2022 Impact Report

Fueling nonprofit success through adaptive innovation.

As we look back on the past year, we can't help but feel proud of the impact Nonprofit Support Network has had on the nonprofit sector in Muncie. Our mission is rooted in serving nonprofits, connecting them with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive in an ever-evolving philanthropic landscape.

Throughout 2022, our dedicated staff, board, and steering committee worked tirelessly to cultivate a vibrant network of nonprofits, fostering collaborations and connections that go beyond organizational boundaries. We've organized in-person networking events, workshops, and training sessions specifically designed for the needs of Muncie nonprofits. These gatherings have been invaluable for nonprofit leaders to exchange ideas, learn from experts, and build strong relationships, igniting a collaborative spirit that propels the entire sector forward.

As we venture into a new year, our commitment to supporting and empowering Muncie nonprofits remains unwavering. We're excited to expand our network, deliver impactful programs and services, and continue serving as a catalyst for positive change.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to our partners, supporters, and the incredible nonprofit community in Muncie. The achievements showcased in this impact report would not have been possible without them. Together, we're making a lasting difference and improving the conditions for nonprofits in our community.

Key Programs

Network Huddles

A supportive and collaborative environment allows nonprofits to connect with peers and learn from each other. Peer groups, like Network Huddles, provide a place for peer-to-peer learning and connections to other professionals who share similar job responsibilities, face a similar challenge, or share a similar purpose. Throughout the past year, we connected nonprofit workers to share and learn about fundraising planning, employee management, fundraising for capital campaigns, board service, and strengthening the network of food pantries.

Nonprofit Essentials

Nonprofit Essentials was launched in response to the need for educational programming specific to nonprofits. These sessions are designed to strengthen the operations and management of nonprofit organizations and enhance the development of the individuals who serve them. Over the past year, the programming provided monthly opportunities for nonprofits to learn, build skills, and strengthen their leadership.

From October 2022 to May 2023, we hosted eight session educational sessions about topics ranging from fundraising for capital campaigns and promoting wellness for your employees to preparing your organizational budget and recruiting and hiring.

Our Impact in Action

The Numbers

The launch of Nonprofit Support Network ignited an array of excitement from community nonprofits and local funders. Grant support from The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, Muncie Rotary Club, Ball Brothers Foundation, George and Frances Ball Foundation, AEP Foundation, and Lilly Endowment, Inc. ensured that Nonprofit Support Network got a strong start. Start-up funds for the organization allowed Nonprofit Support Network the flexibility to be responsive and relevant to what nonprofits need to be successful through the launch of key programs and services.

In 2022, Nonprofit Support Network received $120,045.58 in grant funds that is restricted for 2023 programs and operations.

Where We’re Headed

In year two, we will continue to connect with nonprofits serving our community to hear about their wants and needs. We’ll explore the concept of shared services and how we can be the hub for one or more back-office functions for nonprofits.

Building relationships and connecting nonprofits will expand through additional tools like a free listserv and additional Network Huddles. We’ll be responsive to what organizations need to support their employees and provide access to HR support and resources through an HR Resource and Help Desk.
