Nonprofit Support Network and Shafer Leadership Academy Announce Joint Programming for 2023

Nonprofits serving or located in Muncie-Delaware County will have access to expanded educational programming in 2023 thanks to a collaboration between Nonprofit Support Network and Shafer Leadership Academy. Launched in the fall of 2022, Nonprofit Essentials is designed to address a gap in the training resources available to nonprofits in the east central Indiana region. This collaboration comes after almost two years of work between the organizations as Shafer Leadership Academy was instrumental in the creation of Nonprofit Support Network and currently serves on the organization’s steering committee.

“The program will continue to provide quality, relevant sessions that strengthen the operations and management of nonprofits,” shared Carly Acree King, Relationship and Resource of Nonprofit Support Network. “An enhanced look and robust registration process utilizing Shafer’s industry expertise and resources will make the program more effective.”

With similar missions in supporting the community’s nonprofits and leaders, this programming signifies a commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector and vitality of the Muncie-Delaware County community through shared resources, relationship building, and innovative problem solving. Nonprofit collaboration has a multitude of benefits that include cost-sharing on program expenses, discovery of new ideas, increased visibility and reach, and a stronger leadership alliance.

Programming will kick off with an Executive Director and Board President Summit on Saturday, January 21, from 10 am to 2 pm at Innovation Connector (1208 W. White River Blvd. in Muncie). This session is a unique opportunity for nonprofit leadership to intentionally discuss, and delineate, roles and responsibilities. This session is $50 for two participants and includes lunch. Mitch Isaacs from Shafer Leadership Academy and Carly Acree King from Nonprofit Support Network will lend their experience and knowledge of planning and organizational leadership as session facilitators.

“These two roles – executive director and board president – serve as the key leaders in a nonprofit organization,” shared Mitch Issacs, Executive Director of Shafer Leadership Academy. “It is critical that they work in tandem to best serve their communities and advance their mission.”

Additional sessions for the first quarter of 2023 include Finance 101 on Thursday, February 2, from 9 to 11:30 am at Innovation Connector, and Storytelling for Nonprofits on Thursday, March 2, from 9 to 11:30 am at Innovation Connector. Both sessions are $25 and are open to individuals who currently work, or aspire to work, at nonprofit organizations.

Registration is required for all sessions and is available at https://www.shaferleadership.com/nonprofit-support-network/ Sessions available in the second quarter of 2023 will be announced in February.
