Volunteers Needed for Fired Up - a Sizzling Streetfest on August 6 Hosted by Muncie Downtown Development Partnership

The NonproFIT Support Network, established earlier this year, will provide support to nonprofits in Delaware County to ensure a healthy, well-supported, and sustainable nonprofit sector from which all will benefit. The organization was incorporated on January 1, 2022, as a Type I supporting organization for The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc.

“Serving nonprofit organizations is a key role of The Community Foundation,” said Kelly K. Shrock. “We wanted to create something that would benefit nonprofits doing the challenging work of improving our community without the opportunities being tied to funding support.”

Nonprofit organizations across Delaware County will be able to receive a variety of services through the NonproFIT Support Network, including training, help creating collaborations, relationship development, assistance in planning, shared services, and more. Services and programming from the NonproFIT Support Network will benefit nonprofit organizations in Delaware County beginning this year.

Carly Acree-King will lead the organization as the Relationship and Resource Director. Carly was selected out of a pool of qualified applicants for her knowledge and experience working within the nonprofit sector, program development and execution background, and relationship-building skills. Since 2017, she has served as Program Officer for The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, managing designated grantmaking and scholarships. Before joining the Foundation staff, Carly spent seven years at Cornerstone Center for the Arts, serving as Director of Education and Communication. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Ball State University. Carly will assume her new role on May 2, with program offerings available immediately.

Carly will also have the help of the steering committee that outlined the structure and goals of the NonproFIT Support Network. The steering committee will continue to give guidance and support in identifying and addressing needs and resources for nonprofit organizations in our community.

The NonproFIT Support Network is led by an independent board of directors comprised of Peggy Cenova, David Heeter, Mia Johnson, Joann McKinney, and Kelly K. Shrock. As a Type 1 supporting organization for The Community Foundation, the Board of Directors is reviewed and approved by the Foundation’s Board.

Nonprofit organizations in Delaware County can expect additional information about the NonproFIT Support Network and how to engage with its services after May 1.
